Why I Started This Blog

An automotive engineer who builds web apps at night — here's why I'm adding a blog to my portfolio site.

intro portfolio writing

A Brief Introduction

I’m Jason Moon — an automotive engineer by day, a systems designer by night.

For the past year, I’ve been building web apps, AI-powered tools, and multi-agent systems during evenings and weekends. Each project lives on my projects page, but projects alone don’t capture the thinking behind them.

Why a Blog?

Three reasons:

  1. Process over product. A finished project shows the outcome, not the dozens of design decisions, dead ends, and trade-offs that got me there. Writing forces me to articulate those.

  2. Learning in public. I learn faster when I explain things. If something I write helps someone else avoid a pitfall, that’s a bonus.

  3. A home base. Social media posts disappear. Blog posts on my own domain don’t. This is the long-term archive.

What to Expect

Posts will cover:

  • Dev — practical notes on React, Astro, Supabase, deployment
  • AI — prompt engineering, LLM integration, agent architectures
  • Tutorials — step-by-step guides from my projects
  • Essays — broader reflections on building, learning, and working

No fixed schedule. Quality over quantity.

Let’s Go

If you want to follow along, check back here or reach out on the contact page. Every post starts from something I genuinely needed to figure out.
